The long road to the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium began in earnest last August.
It may still have been the height of summer, but amateur clubs got their chance in the sun as the Extra Preliminary Round kicked things off for the oldest cup competition on the planet.
Manchester United are the defending champions but the Premier League giants – and the rest of the top-flight and Championship teams – had to wait five months to enter proceedings in the third round.
