We absolutely love it when a differential or player with less than 0.5% ownership provides double-digit returns, and GW13 did just that with Brentford’s Kevin Schade (23) and Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert (20) finishing top of the round score leaderboard.
In what world has somebody scored a hattrick for Brentford, and that somebody isn’t Wissa or Mbeumo? For the 0.3% who own Schade, that was his first attacking return since GW3.
Another uncommon high scorer from GW13 was Joshua Zirkzee, delivering 13 points for the 1.8% who own him. Could his new role of playing just behind the striker be more suited to the tall Dutchman?
It isn’t always about the underdog though, with heavyweights Mo Salah (59% ownership) and Cole Palmer (57.4% ownership) delivering 13 and 14 points respectively, making them the top two in the total score leaderboard.
As for our GW 13 predictions, we called it right with a Chelsea win and Nicolas Jackson goal, we were spot on with an Andre Onana clean sheet, and we were half right in saying things would get a bit Spursy in London… we know they didn’t lose, but they didn’t win and were booed off by their own fans.
What we got wildly wrong was suggesting Man City would turn up at Anfield and Erling Haaland would deliver an attacking return.
A meagre 2 points for Haaland meaning in six of his last eight games he’s delivered the bare minimum to the 47.7% who still own him. Think of where else you could spend that £15m guys, come on!
Mid-week mayhem, let’s see what will happen over the next three nights…
A rare City clean sheet
“Sacked in the morning” is not a chant Pep has been familiar with hearing, but after losing what feels like 400 games on the bounce, it is what the Anfield faithful sung to him.
Paddy’s Pro Tip
City to keep their first clean sheet since GW9 against Forest. Stefan Ortega looks a good bet to retain his place between the sticks so could reward the 0.5% who own him with maximum points.
Attacking returns at the Emirates
Arsenal appear to have come out the other side of their early season dip and have Liverpool firmly in their sights. If they are to win the title, they need Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli and Havertz firing every single week.
Paddy’s Pro Tip
Anybody with an Arsenal forward could be in the money this week, but we think Odegaard will continue his fine form. Having scored in this fixture last season and delivered attacking returns over the last three gameweeks, we are backing him to make his owners happy with a goal or assist against United.
Hands up who owns a Southampton defender?
When you look at the Southampton defender ownership and see 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.1%, you must wonder who those FPL players are. Heading into GW14, the Saints have managed just one clean sheet all season.
Paddy’s Pro Tip
Back the forwards of the team playing against Southampton because they always tend to score. Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson owners, it could good be a good time to captain either of your Chelsea assets.
