Pep Guardiola reminds Anfield crowd he’s lost 6 out of 7

Pep Guardiola was jeered by the Anfield crowd on Sunday and responded with a six-fingered gesture - but what did it mean?

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed the reason why he held up 6 fingers to the Liverpool supporters who taunted him with ‘sacked in the morning’ chants.

Liverpool were closing in on a win that would take them 11 points clear of City when the chants echoed around Anfield during the last minute of the game.

The Spaniard responded by holding up 6 fingers which many mistakenly interpreted as him reminding Kopites about the number of Premier League titles City have won under his stewardship.

However, the former Barca boss clarified the situation during an interview this morning.

‘Titles? No. I was reminding everyone that we’ve lost 6 of our last 7 games’, Guardiola told Paddy Power News.

‘We are in a difficult moment, possibly the most difficult moment since this club was founded in 2008.

‘Why are we so sh*te? I can’t explain it. I’m scratching my head. Literally. Look’, said the 53-year-old while pointing to several scrapes on his bald cranium.

Despite the explanation, Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville believe there could be other reasons behind Guardiola’s Anfield gesture.

‘I think he was referring to Liverpool’s six Champions League titles’, argued Carragher while accidentally gobbing on the desk in front of him.

‘Or maybe he was signalling 1-1-5, to remind us that City are facing 115 FFP charges and will be playing in the Isthmian League next season’, added the former Liverpool defender.

‘For me, he’s letting the Anfield crowd know that Liverpool are first in the league and City are fifth’, countered Neville.

‘Either that or he’s reminding Jamie Carragher he has 6 more Premier League winner’s medals than him and Slippy Gerrard combined’.

In related news, Chelsea have announced they’ve received a record number of new season ticket applications after City’s 2-0 defeat at Liverpool.

‘Come on back lads, all is forgiven’, said a spokesperson for the London club.
