Fantasy Premier League: Make the most of Arsenal & Villa slumps in Gameweek 11

Nathon Woodhead breaks down Gameweek 11 with some sage advice - we just hope you're not an Arsenal fan

Gameweek 10 was full of intrigue, with last season’s top two both losing.

Whilst Arsenal struggled in a 1-0 defeat at Newcastle, our we were bang on the money, predicting attacking returns for Anthony Gordon (6) and Alexander Isak (9) in our Gameweek 10 preview.

Pep’s men were on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth with Erling Haaland blanking again. Having failed to find the net in five of his last six fixtures, should FPL managers do the unthinkable and sell the £15.3m striker ahead of a tricky away trip to Brighton?

Haaland is 19th in the forward’s form chart (3.3), behind the likes of £5m Cameron Archer (4.3) and £5.6m Jorgen Strand Larsen (6.0).

Oooof.

It was a different forward who topped the GW10 points chart, with Spurs’ Dominic Solanke delivering a whopping 16 points to the 13.2% who own him. £7.7m beginning to look a bit of a bargain following a slow start, as he is placed as joint third most in form striker (6.7) behind Danny Welbeck (7.0) and Chris Wood (9.0).

Elsewhere in GW10, Bruno Fernandes contributed his first double digit haul of the season (10) after scoring from the spot, and Southampton found their first victory of the season – ahem, as predicted.

But now’s not the time for resting on laurels – onto our top tips for Gameweek 11!

Derby delight for Chelsea

Chelsea are a far more organised and solid outfit than that of six months ago, and after an outrageous mid-week 8-0 win in Europe with a rotated side, we expect them to be fresh and fired up going into the clash with once upon a time title-favourites Arsenal, who have recently lost to Bournemouth, Newcastle and Inter.

Paddy’s Pro Tip: Cole Palmer to outshine England teammate Bukayo Saka and deliver an attacking return and bonus points.

Battle at the bottom

The Wolves-Southampton clash presents serious relegation problems for whichever side loses on Saturday, so do we expect caution from both managers? Abso-bloody-lutely not. Both sides will continue to play football as they do and ship goals.

Paddy’s Pro Tip: Goals. Matteus Cunha to reward the 7% who own him.

More problems for Villa?

I don’t think many would have predicted a 4-1 defeat at Spurs followed by a mid-week defeat in Brugge. A trip to Anfield must be the worst possible game for Emery’s men at this moment in time.

Paddy’s Pro Tip: Liverpool look relentless now, so we suggest you avoid using any Villa defensive assets this weekend folks.

Goal Trafford

There were seven goals between United and Leicester in the cup last week, and with the United forwards looking to impress an incoming head coach, expect another goal feast.

Paddy’s Pro Tip: Back Bruno again, having scored double digits last weekend we expect similar against Leicester. £4.9m Amad is also worth looking at having bagged a brace for United mid-week, proving himself to be their most dangerous and creative player in Europe… but will interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy trust him to deliver in the Premier League?
