Fantasy Premier League: Haaland to sink the Saints in Gameweek 9

Our top Fantasy Premier League scout Nathon Woodhead is looking to bounce back after a poor showing in Gameweek 8.

Merseyside dominated GW8 with Everton and Liverpool both winning in style.

The Toffees saw Jordan Pickford keep another clean sheet proving himself to be the in form keeper in FPL (7.7), whilst the man stood in front of him, Michael Keane, came away as GW8’s highest scorer (14).

It’s also worth noting Dwight McNeil sits in the top 10 for overall points (47)… no, seriously, go and check if you don’t believe us. Is now the time to stock up on Everton assets?

As for the red half of Merseyside, Liverpool’s Curtis Jones rewarded the 0.1% who own him by delivering an impressive 13-point return, proving to be a fantastic differential. His teammate Mo Salah remains top of the overall points leaderboard (74) after finding the net from the spot.

Elsewhere in GW8, despite Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo bagging a respectable nine points each, the Saints remain winless after a late defeat at the hands of Leicester.

And let’s not even get into Arsenal right now, sadly our tipser got that one wildly wrong. Here’s our four FPL pro tips ahead of GW9…

Michail to hammer United

Michail Antonio is ranked second in the form chart (8.3), and we anticipate an attacking return for him as West Ham welcome a below-par Manchester United on Sunday.

Paddy’s Pro Tip: Antonio to prove his status as king of the differentials against as mediocre Man United back line.

Chelsea Flag

More doom for the toon

Having lost to Fulham and Brighton with draws in between, Newcastle find themselves four EPL games without a win. A close encounter but we expect Chelsea to edge it on Sunday.

Paddy’s Pro Tip: Attacking returns for Nicolas Jackson against a Newcastle side who seem to have lost their way.

Haaland to hurt the saints

Erling Haaland failed to find the net against Wolves last time out in league action, so we expect a huge backlash this weekend, as struggling Southampton land in Manchester.

Paddy’s Pro Tip: Haaland for captain.

Top of the Champions League

World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez finds himself top of the Champions League with Aston Villa. Yet only one EPL clean sheet for the Argentinian this term has had many of us questioning his value.

Paddy’s Pro Tip: A 17-point return over the past two GWs for the £5m man offers greater value than other title chasing keepers, Raya (£5.7m) and Ederson (£5.5m).
