Cometh the hour, cometh the man! Jordan Pickford kept a clean sheet and saved a penalty, earning Everton a valuable point against Newcastle and delivering his highest return of the season (15).
And guess what… we called it in our Gameweek 7 preview. Whilst we’re at it, we also nailed it with the return of form for Saka (16), and Ait-Nouri delivering another attacking return (9) in what was a good week for our tipster.
Topping the GW7 scoring charts was West Ham’s Michail Antonio (18) who was only owned by 2.2% of FPL players once again proving himself to be a great differential.
Keeping on the West Ham vibe, Antonio was backed up by teammate Jarrod Bowen (12) in what was a very good day for the Hammers. Coming up against an unconvincing Tottenham defence, could the West Ham duo be worth a gamble in GW8?
Elsewhere in GW7, Cole Palmer couldn’t continue his scintillating form, and ahead of a trip to the fortress that is Anfield, maybe now is the time to find an alternative to the £10.8m star who has blown hot and cold this season.
Here’s our four FPL pro tips ahead of GW8…
Justin time
On the back of two double digit point hauls due to three attacking returns and a clean sheet, Leicester’s £4.6m defender James Justin must be a shoo-in as he visits lowly Southampton. The Saints will win eventually, but we don’t think it’ll be this weekend.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: A clean sheet and bonus points for Justin.
Pedro Porro time to go-go
A whopping 29% of FPL players have selected Pedro Porro, but now is the time to ask ourselves, why? Apparently, he offers good attacking returns, but this hasn’t been seen since GW1.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: £5.5m could be spent in better places across the backline.
Bournemouth blank
No clean sheet in three game weeks for Arteta’s side is not something we are used to seeing, so expect a full-on mid-90s, one-nil to the Arsenal performance this weekend with Arsenal shutting up shop and nicking the three points when they visit a spirited Bournemouth.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: If you have Bournemouth attackers, we advise you to put them on your bench for the visit of Arsenal.
Phil-ing positive
A very quiet start to the campaign for young Foden, but the cream always rises to the top. If ever there was a perfect opportunity for the City showman to hit form, it has to be against a Wolves side sitting bottom of the table on a goal difference of -12.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: Double digits for Foden in GW8.
