Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has found a way to combat the fatigue that plagued him during his final season at Anfield.
The 57-year-old has agreed to become the global head of soccer for energy drinks brand Red Bull.
Red Bull owns Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg and MLS club New York Red Bulls, as well as Championship side Red Bull Leeds United.
Paddy Power News understands Klopp accepted the role on the condition he was given a lifetime supply of the caffeine loaded drink.
Klopp announced he was leaving Liverpool midway through last season citing a lack of energy for his sudden and unexpected departure.
‘How can I say, that I’m no longer running out of energy’, beamed the toothy German while clutching a slim silver can during a press conference at the company’s Austrian headquarters.
‘I was an Erdinger man all these years, but I felt like s***e after nine or ten steins of the wheaty filth. Maybe I should have skimmed them after all?
‘If only I’d discovered Red Bull sooner, I might have had the energy to add more league titles to the Covid Cup we won in 2020.
On what he hopes to bring to the role of global head of soccer, the former Dortmund coach said:
‘I will lobby the various football associations our clubs play in to scrap all 12.30 kick offs’.
‘Short grass on pitches, reduced wind speeds and extra pairs of socks for goalkeepers in case they get cold feet are also high on the agenda.’
‘Finally, the introduction of 11 substitutes during a game is something I feel very strongly about.
‘You hear that, Chris Wilder. 11. Yes, ELEVEN f****** substitutes.
‘Red Bull gives you wiiings’, added Klopp, before taking a huge gulp of Red Bull and flying out of the press conference.
