Gameweek 6 was all about Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, who broke all sorts of records with four first-half goals against Brighton.
Palmer tallied the most bonus points ever registered in a half (86), the most FPL points ever scored by a player in a half (21), and the most goals scored by a player in the first-half since football was invented in 1992.
For note, Ole Gunnar Solskajer scored four against Nottingham Forest in the second-half of a match back in 1999.
3,143 FPL players triple captained Chelsea’s talisman who also wowed audiences after admitting his love for chippy chips.
He can do no wrong!
Other top performers in Gameweek 6 were not such obvious choices, with Everton’s Dwight McNeill scoring 15 points – we called this in our Gameweek 5 preview, pat on the back there – and Ipswich’s Liam Delap being one of four players who registered an impressive 12-point return.
With games against strugglers West Ham, Everton and Leicester on the horizon, is £5.6m Delap worthy of a selection?
Here’s how we’re weighing up Gameweek 7…
More misery for Southampton
The Saints face a daunting trip to the Emirates and only a fool would back them to keep a clean sheet. Martinelli, Trossard and Havertz were all on target for Arsenal in Gameweek 6 and we expect more attacking returns for the Gunners.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: Saka to score. Arsenal’s star-boy is due a Premier League goal having drawn a blank in the league since the opening day.
Sweet music from Duran Duran
Jhon Duran is Aston Villa’s main man, and he does it from the bench every time. Having lost home and away fixtures to United last season, Emery’s Champions League heroes will want to set the record straight.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: £6.2m Duran to continue his fine super-sub form.
Pick up Pickford?
It came in Gameweek 6 but Everton registered their first win of the season, so it would be very Everton indeed to go on a four-game unbeaten run, giving their fans some kind of hope that a relegation battle may not be on the cards for the first time in forever.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: Pickford to keep Newcastle out this weekend, and register a full clean sheet bonus points.
The table doesn’t lie – or does it?
Every time we watch Wolves, they look up for it, they trouble defences, and they play attractive football, whereas Brentford flatter to deceive, although we are impressed with the amount of first-minute goals they seem to score.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: Having found his scoring boots against Liverpool, we expect Rayyan Ait-Nouri to have developed a taste for getting forward. At £4.4m, the Wolves defender offers an attacking threat against a Brentford side yet to keep a clean sheet and who, let’s face it, seem a bit ‘meh’ this season.
