Manchester United have suffered another blow after confirming defender Luke Shaw will be missing until England’s next important fixture.
The full-back hasn’t been seen in a United shirt for over 8 months although he did feature 3 times for England at Euro 2024 including their 2-1 final defeat by Spain.
Shaw will have to sit out the final two defeats of Erik ten Hag’s reign as Manchester United boss against Porto and Aston Villa before the next international break.
‘Luke will continue working from home until I am sacked’, Ten Hag told Paddy Power News.
‘If Luke was office staff, Sir Jim would have made him redundant by now, no?’, joked the Dutchman.
Meanwhile, Shaw has reassured United fans he will continue to work on his online gaming as he awaits the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 later this month.
‘I’ve set myself a target of Prestige 100 by Christmas’, said the 29-year-old.
In other news, United skipper Bruno Fernandes has avoided a ban after the club successfully appealed against his red card in Sunday’s 3-0 loss to Tottenham.
Fernandes was shown a straight red for a foul on Spurs midfielder James Maddison which threatened to rule him out of United’s next 3 league defeats.
The decision has led to calls for the introduction of video technology that could check these on-field decisions in real time.

‘What we need is some kind of video assisted referee with the technology to allow them to see various angles of these incidents at different speeds’, Ten Hag argues.
‘The information could be relayed to the on-field ref so he can make the correct decision. This would be known as a ‘good process’.
Asked if the decision to send Fernandes off influenced the outcome of the game, the 54-year-old said:
‘Of course, if Bruno had stayed on the field there’s a good chance we might have lost the game by a smaller margin.
‘It was the same last season against Arsenal when there was a penalty on Hojlund and Garnacho was not offside. That is clear.
‘And obvious’.
