Manchester United are taking their critically acclaimed comedy show to the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the club has announced.
‘Eras Come to An End’ by Dutch comedian Erik ten Hag and INEOS Theatre Company has been lapped up by sold-out audiences across England and been shortlisted for awards such as ‘Most Goals Conceded in a Premier League Season’.
The show, put together on a shoestring budget of £600m, features top comedic talent such as Antony dos Santos, Mason Mount and Andre Onana.
Responsible for such hilarious productions as ‘Liverpool 7-0 United’ and ‘Ronaldo Is the Problem’, Ten Hag describes his latest creation as ‘a good old-fashioned British comedy farce’.
“Basically, it’s a laugh-out-loud play about a football manager who spends over half a billion quid on players who can’t string two passes together,” the 54-year-old told Paddy Power News.
“When he gets the job, he tells everyone he’s going to end the dominance of the league’s top-two clubs. And then, the hilarity ensues.”
The cast consists of seasoned actors Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes who have been part of the Man United comedy troupe for years while Sir Jim Radcliffe has decided to direct the show.
“Jim took my ideas and created something quite special,” says Ten Hag.
“I have such a talented bunch of comedians around me, I have to give them credit, and the Fringe audiences are in for a real treat.”
Renowned critic Gary Neville who attended yesterday’s performance at Old Trafford described it as ‘Absolutely disgusting. Five stars’.
“From start to finish, audiences will be rolling in the aisles at ten Hag’s madcap comedy masterpiece,” Neville told Chortle.
“I don’t want to spoil it for anyone wanting to watch it but wait until you see the defending. I had tears streaming down my face.
“A must-see for anyone who finds Manchester United hilarious,” added the former Valencia funny-man.
