Over 30% of FPL players picked Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold in Gameweek 5, and the Anfield pair did not disappoint, finding themselves in the top 5 points returns (Diaz 16, Alexander-Arnold 11).
Trying to accommodate a £7.1m defender often means missing sacrificing an attacking threat, but surely it’s getting to the stage where Trent is a must have for anybody playing the game.
Elsewhere in Gameweek 5, Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson once again proved to be the man for a London derby, netting twice against West Ham and delivering the highest points return of any forward (16).
At a cool £7.7m, could Jackson be worth bringing in, as Chelsea will look to build momentum in upcoming home fixtures against Brighton and Forest.
Who else is worth looking at this week?
Time for Trent
Arne Slot’s side look solid at the back, and another clean sheet could be on the cards when they head to struggling Wolves.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: Clean sheet, goal threat, pass-master, only Gabriel sits above Trent for high performing defenders this season. It’s time to bring in the Liverpool defender if you’ve not got him already.
Goals at the City Ground
Fulham and Forest have both demonstrated their capabilities in the final third, so we expect to see goals in this clash. Chris Wood at £6.1m or Raul Jiminez at £5.4m both offer value if you are looking for a cheaper alternative up-front to accommodate big name players.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: Jiminez has provided returns in his last two fixtures, and at £5.4m looks to be an attractive option.
Haaland on fire
Not many strikers make Gabriel and Saliba look soft, but the City man did just that. It doesn’t matter who he goes up against, Haaland always scores.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: Haaland for captain… again!
Southampton to concede
The Saints give away a lot of chances, so it is only right to consider whoever they face week-to-week. It’s Bournemouth this week, and while there’s no such thing as a guarantee in the Premier League, but the likes of Semenyo, Sinisterra and Evanilson will be licking their lips.
Paddy’s Pro Tip: If you can fit in a Bournemouth goal threat, we expect it will pay dividends.
