The Champions League is back – and that means we get to hear the banging anthem being pumped out of speakers at football grounds once again!
The recognisable ditty, which is not a patch on the Europa League anthem, was specially written by English composer Tony Britten for the competition’s launch in 1992.
If you know your classical music then you’ll be aware that it’s based on George Frideric Handel tune Zadok the Priest (thanks Google).
The Champions League anthem has been given a fresh lick of paint for the 2024/25 revamp, although you’ll need a musical ear to spot the changes.
There is more of an emphasis on the vocals and it has a quicker tempo, but, crucially, the theme and lyrics remain the same.
