Trump welcomes appointment of Mauro Picotto as US soccer boss

US presidential candidate Donald Trump has welcomed the appointment of trance DJ Mauro Picotto as head co... no, wait, he means Mauricio Pochettino

US presidential candidate Donald Trump says he ‘fully endorses the appointment of Mauro Picotto as the United States soccer coach’ following last night televised debate with opponent Kamala Harris.

After early reviews of the pair’s debate suggested that voters found Harris did a better job, Trump attempted to steal a march on his Democrat rival by throwing his support behind the USA’s new soccer boss.

‘I’m a big fan of Mauro’s. Ask anyone. I even have an original copy of Lizard on vinyl’, Trump told Paddy Power News.

‘I remember I was in Privilege when he dropped Iguana for the first time back in ’99. I was with some of the troops in Ibiza. I haven’t been in that many states since my 2016 presidential campaign.

‘But if I’m honest, and I always am, I prefer his earlier work he did with R.A.F. They were Eurodance’s best years, the biggest years, the most beautiful years.

However, when it was pointed out that he may be confusing the USA’s new manager Mauricio Pochettino with a 90s trance DJ, Trump said:

‘The former Spurs boss? He’s our guy? That’s very, very bad for America.

‘He’s a Spursy person, let’s face it. We don’t need Spursy. We need the opposite of Spursy, whatever that is.

‘Un-Spursy, probably.’

‘He finished 2nd in a one-horse race in a farmer’s league with a front three the likes of which the world has never seen before. Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Richie.

‘I feel very bad for US soccer fans. I do, I really do’.

When asked who he thought the USMNT should have appointed instead of Pochettino, the 78-year-old replied:

‘A lot of people tell me that I should have gone for it myself’.

‘And people think it’s going to happen because I know how to do soccer real good.

‘But I’ll probably never get asked. I never do. But there you go’.
