The Premier League season has launched into action and the race for the coveted Golden Boot is firmly underway.
Manchester City frontman Erling Haaland retained the award last season, with his tally of 27 goals as they lifted the title for the fourth time in a row.
The Norwegian will be aiming to join Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry as the only players to win the Golden Boot three times in a row, and is already off the mark.
Liverpool star and three-time winner Mohamed Salah will be hoping he can surpass Haaland this season, as will Aston Villa’s star man Ollie Watkins.

Erling Haaland
If Erling Haaland can remain fit throughout the season then he’s more than likely to be lifting the trophy at the end of the campaign. You’d think.
He took the league by storm in his first season, breaking the record for the most goals scored with 36. If Manchester City are to lift yet another title then Haaland is going to be the one to fire them to it.
The Norweigan talisman has laid down a marker with hat-tricks in two games to help take his tally to nine for the season already.
Mohamad Salah
Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah had a fairly quiet season last term but still managed to score 18 Premier League goals.
He has hit 20+ goals in four different seasons in the past so there’s no reason he can’t keep pace with Haaland provided he stays fit. How well the Reds do under new manager Arne Slot is likely to have an impact on Salah’s goalscoring tally, though.
Salah has found the back of the net in three of Liverpool’s four games to put early pressure on his principal rival.
Ollie Watkins
After an impressive tally of 19 in the last campaign Watkins is expected to be in the race for the golden boot once again.
He was pivotal in helping Aston Villa qualify for the Champions League and if Unai Emery’s side are to have any success this season he will be a huge part of it.
Watkins has already registered two goals in Villa’s first four games so he’s well on his way.
Alexander Isak
Swedish star Alexander Isak managed to score 21 goals despite Newcastle failing to retain their place in the Champions League last season.
There have been all sorts of rumours surrounding his future, but he’s committed to the Magpies for now and will be determined to better his tally.
Son Heung-Min
Having won the Golden Boot back in 2022 you can never count Son out of the race. Since Harry Kane’s departure, he has been the main man for Spurs and they’ll need his goals if they are to have any success this season.
His tally of 17 last season was good but he’s more than capable of scoring over 20 so will be hoping to improve this time around.
The 32-year-old has already netted two in four games and has the potential to be a threat if he stays fit.
