Let’s not beat about the bush here, England have been pretty dire at Euro 2024 yet they’ve somehow fluked a dream path to the final.

First up for the Three Lions in the knockout stage is a meeting with Slovakia, who progressed to the last 16 as one of the lucky losers that finished third in their group.

England will have to improve on their dismal showings if they are to go deep into the tournament, however, as two goals from games against Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia hardly screams trophy-winning form.

Fans will be hoping Gareth Southgate might mix things up because the likes of Anthony Gordon, Kobbie Mainoo and Cole Palmer at least showed they can pass the ball forwards instead of sideways in their cameos during the mind-numbing draw with Slovenia.

Slovakia have already claimed one major scalp at this tournament after beating Belgium in their opening match and they will fancy their chances of causing an upset.
