Will The Tartan Army pick up their first win of Euro 2024?

Scotland v Hungary

Scotland’s Euro 2024 campaign is well underway, and they’ve got just one last chance to make it through to the Round of 16.

The Tartan Army were thrashed 5-1 in their opening game against hosts Germany, but showed their worth in their second match against Switzerland where they earned a 1-1 draw.

That point gives them a chance to progress, but they must beat Hungary, who have lost both their game so far.

It’s a tough ask for Steve Clarke’s men, but they’ll have thousands of Scottish fans cheering them on in Stuttgart this weekend.

Scotland v Hungary team news

Kieran Tierney was taken off on a stretcher in Wednesday’s draw against Switzerland so will miss the final game. Ryan Porteous is also still suspended after his red card in the opener.

Scott McKenna came on to fill in at left-centre back so he could start this game. Other than that, Steve Clarke is likely to name an unchanged side.

As for Hungary, they made two changes for their defeat to Germany but are unlikely to tinker with the lineup anymore for this one.

Scotland predicted XI: Gunn; Hendry, Hanley, McKenna; Ralston, Gilmour, McGregor, Robertson; McGinn, McTominay; Adams

Hungary predicted XI: Sommer; Schar, Akanji, Rodriguez; Widmer, Xhaka, Freuler, Aebischer; Ndoye, Shaqiri, Vargas

Scotland v Hungary previous results

The two have never met in a competitive match with all their games against each other being international friendless.

Hungary have won four of nine previous meetings compared to Scotland’s three victories, with two draws.

March 27, 2017: Hungary 0-1 Switzerland

Scotland v Hungary prediction

Thommo: Seeing Hungary as slight favourites is a bit surprising seeing as they’ve lost both of their games so far.

They’ve been alright but I wouldn’t say there’s really anything there.

If Scotland produce the same performance here as they did against Switzerland there’s no doubt they can win. I do see both teams scoring though.

I don’t see it ending with a mega score line, I have it ending 2-1 to Scotland.
