Nottingham Forest’s social media department have offered their services to the Dutch FA following Xavi Simons’ controversial disallowed goal during the Netherland’s 0-0 draw with France.
Simons believed he had given Ronald Koeman’s side the lead when he found the bottom corner in the 69th minute.
However, English referee Anthony Taylor disallowed the goal following a 2-hour long review by the video assistant referee Stuart Atwell much to the bemusement of Koeman, his players and the Dutch crowd behind the goal.
In the wake of the incident, Forest’s social team contacted the Dutch FA offering to inflame the situation with a series of libellous tweets.
Paddy Power News understands Forest’s proposal included: accusing the VAR of having French ancestry; demanding the game be replayed in Amsterdam and posting a bunch of insulting memes about the size of Didier Deschamp’s head.
‘After a lot of careful consideration, the KNVB has politely declined Nottingham Forest’s kind offer to drag our name through the mud,’ said a spokesperson on behalf of the organisation.
‘Whilst we are disappointed by yesterday’s decision to disallow Simons’ goal, it’s our opinion that ranting on the internet like a drunken fan is f***ing pointless.
‘Furthermore, we thought their ‘Antoine’ Taylor meme was particularly childish.’
Meanwhile, the Premier League has confirmed it will be deducting 12 points off Everton ahead of next season after former Toffees boss Ronald Koeman insisted Xavi Simons’ disallowed goal should have stood.
‘Somehow this is all Everton’s fault and we have decided to dock them another 12 points,’ a spokesperson for the Premier League told Paddy Power News.
‘Hopefully, this will finally relegate the b******s. We’ve tried everything but they keep staying up.
‘We thought for sure they’d go down when Frank Lampard took charge but somehow, they even managed to survive that?’
* Paddy’s news coverage is pure fantasy – or is it? No, no, it definitely is. Honest.
