Danny Dyer receives shock England call-up after Soccer Aid exploits

Wwell, West Ham did win the World Cup in '66, of course...

Former Eastenders hardman Danny Dyer has received a shock call-up to England’s Euro 2024 squad following an impressive display during Sunday’s Soccer Aid game.

The 46-year-old produced a defensive masterclass as the Three Lions’ former pros and celebs beat the World XI 6-3 at Stamford Bridge.

Dyer perfectly executed a man-marking job on former Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard which many are describing as the best tactical instruction of Frank Lampard’s managerial career so far.

And with England’s Euro 2024 preparations besieged with defensive issues, boss Gareth Southgate has drafted the Human Traffic star into his squad.

Discussing his shock call-up with Paddy Power News, Dyer said: “Those FA slags were on the blower asking me to play at the Euros. I still can’t Adam and f**king Eve it.

“They must have heard about me having Eden Hazard in my back skyrocket.

“But I told the FA geezers I’d go to the Euros on one condition: sack Gareth Southgate and hire Sean Dyche.

“Get England playing Dychey’s brand of 442 GM Vauxhall hoof ball and those French sorts won’t know what’s f**king hit ‘em.”

Meanwhile, there have been calls to install Lampard as England’s manager for the tournament after he masterminded a first English Soccer Aid win since 2018.

Lampard was also praised for his substitutions which swung the contest in his side’s favour during the second half.

“No disrespect to Gareth but he doesn’t have the tactical nous to bring on a Dragon’s Den presenter at half-time,” Lampard told PP News.

“The Steven Bartlett substitution won us the game in the end and those are the fine margins in big games between soap stars and overweight ex-footballers.

“Of course, it goes without saying Danny Dyer would be in my starting XI. He’s played more minutes than Luke Shaw this season.”
