Olympiakos v Fiorentina Europa Conference League final team news, H2H record and prediction

Another European title is on the line.

The UEFA Europa Conference League final takes place on Wednesday as Olympiakos and Fiorentina go head-to-head in Athens.

The Greek giants will be 10 miles from home, with the chance to win their first European title in the backyard of their rivals AEK Athens.

Fiorentina will try to spoil their party, though, and make sure they don’t suffer heartbreak like last year when they lost to West Ham in the final.

Olympiakos will have huge support inside and outside the stadium and will be fancied after beating Premier League high-flyers Aston Villa in the semi-finals.

It’s sure to be an interesting spectacle with a place in next season’s Europa League group stage also on the line.

Olympiakos v Fiorentina team news

Olympiakos have had over a week to prepare for the match and manager Jose Luis Mendilibar will have everyone available for selection including former Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic.

Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano is known for rotating so could surprise everyone with his team selection heading into the final. Lucas Beltran was the hero in the semi-finals and has scored four goals so far in this competition so is one to watch.

Olympiakos v Fiorentina prediction

Paddy Power tipster Sam Farley: This is all set up to be a close game but it’s one in which the Italian side are favourites. However, we’ll be backing Olympiakos to be the team lifting the trophy at the end of the night, for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, home advantage. Yes, this isn’t their stadium but playing in their home city would have made this week and the preparation for this game far easier, and they’re going to be familiar playing inside this stadium.

Secondly, Fiorentina’s lack of firepower. They’ve scored just 58 Serie A goals in 37 games this season. They’re not immensely dangerous going forward and Olympiakos should be able to outscore them, whether that’s in regular or added time.
