Euro 2024 Golden Boot odds: Who is favourite to be crowned top scorer?

Who will fire their country to glory?

Euro 2024 Golden Boot

Euro 2024 is finally here as the continent’s top teams descend on Germany in the hope of lifting the famous trophy.

Italy are the defending champions after defeating England in the Euro 2020 final on penalties at Wembley three years ago, although the spine of the Azzurri’s team lacks experience as the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci have since retired.

The Three Lions head into this tournament as favourites looking to go one step further, but will face tough competition from 2022 World Cup finalists France and the hosts.

Several of Europe’s top strikers will be hoping to fire their country to glory. However, only one can win the coveted Golden Boot.

Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo won his first-ever international Golden Boot at Euro 2020, scoring five goals. He will return for a record seventh time this summer and, in doing so, become the oldest outfield player to feature at the tournament.

You can find all the Euro 2024 Golden Boot odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise, here’s everything you need to know about the leading contenders to be the top scorer.

Kylian Mbappe

Only the second person in history to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final, France’s Kylian Mbappe clinched the Golden Boot in Qatar in 2022.

He is likely to be Les Bleus’ greatest goalscoring threat at this summer’s Euros and given they are expected to go far it gives him a great opportunity of winning the Golden Boot.

He suffered a broken nose in France’s opening game against Austria and was substituted before the full-time whistle. However, he’s still likely to start in their upcoming match.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane has been breaking records for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season and is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world.

He’ll feel at home in Germany and is most certainly England’s best goalscorer. He also has a World Cup Golden Boot on his trophy cabinet, having scored the most goals in 2018.

Despite being fancied, Kane was nowhere to be seen in England’s opening game against Serbia with just one realistic scoring opportunity that was well saved.

Cristiano Ronaldo

It’s hard to ignore, quite possibly, the greatest goalscorer in history. Yes, he’s playing in Saudi Arabia currently which is a much less intense league than Europe’s top five, but he’s still a massive threat.

Portugal tend to play through Cristiano Ronaldo which gives him a great chance of winning the award. However, it’s likely to depend on how far they get in the tournament.

Ronaldo had a couple of good opportunities in Portugal’s opener against the Czech Republic, but he couldn’t find the back of the net.

Romelu Lukaku

While the general assumption is that their Golden Generation have missed their chance, Belgium still rate as one of the continent’s most dangerous propositions and Romelu Lukaku remains a lethal threat in front of goal.

The Chelsea forward had two goals ruled out by VAR in Belgium’s opening defeat to Slovakia, but still has a great chance of scoring against Romania and Ukraine, especially with Kevin De Bruyne supplying the ammunition.

Jude Bellingham

Jude Bellingham is another star for England that knows how to find the back of the net. Since moving to giants Real Madrid in the summer he has played further forward resulting in 16 league goals so far.

His goalscoring threat this summer largely depends on how far forward Gareth Southgate chooses to play him. He may play in a deeper role to accommodate the likes of Kane and Phil Foden.

England’s number 10 scored the only goal in their opener against Serbia, could he have an outside chance of winning this award?

Kai Havertz

Germany are the dark horses for the Euro 2024 crown – it certainly helps having home advantage – so Kai Havertz could have plenty of matches to get on the scoresheet.

The Arsenal forward finished the season in strong form and has history of scoring in big games.

Olivier Giroud

It’s no surprise to see Olivier Giroud‘s name on this list. He is France’s all-time leading goalscorer and his record at major tournaments speaks for itself.

He’s ageing but will remain a threat for France at this summer’s tournament, which will be his last.
