Paddy twins Munich with Tottenham after Champions League exit

What a fitting way to mark the occasion...

Paddy has unofficially ‘twinned’ Munich with Tottenham after German giants, Bayern Munich, found themselves trophyless today for the first time since 2012.

A sign was erected outside ex-Spurs star Harry Kane’s new home at the Allianz Arena, linking the German city’s footballing misfortune to those of Tottenham.

Since joining the Bavarian side, the most successful club in German football history, Kane’s squad has gone from heroes to zeros, culminating in them being dumped out of the Champions League in their semi-final clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

It seems even standing on the shoulders of giants can’t help him reach the trophy cabinet. On the upside, at least Bayern Munich must really feel like a home away from home now for the former Spurs stars.

Having played with Spurs for 14 years, England’s record goalscorer hasn’t touched silverware for the entire duration of his professional footballing career.

Despite boasting a staggering streak of 11 back-to-back Bundesliga titles since 2013, Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich team – which also includes Kane’s former Spurs teammate Eric Dier – missed out on making it a magic dozen after Bayer Leverkusen won their first ever top-flight title last month.

As things stand Bayern Munich is clinging to a second-place position ahead of VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.

They have lost seven matches so far, something they haven’t done since the 2011/2012 season.

Add being dumped out of the DFB Cup in November by third-division side Saarbrucken to the mix, and last night’s defeat at the hands of Real Madrid seems to have well and truly put a full stop on their winning streak.
