Liverpool aren’t mathematically out of the Premier League title race but it would be extremely unlikely for them to win the title ahead of Arsenal or Manchester City.

The Gunners are rolling and they’re three points clear of the Reds, while current champions City boast two games in hand on their rivals.

The Premier League defeat at Everton in the Merseyside derby this week was a damaging blow and I’ve seen people saying that Liverpool’s collapse is because of Jurgen Klopp’s imminent exit in the summer.

I’m not so convinced.

We had two months of wonderful football after he made his announcement at the end of January.

It’s all gone downhill a bit since the FA Cup defeat against Manchester United and that loss played a huge part in Liverpool’s season.

The extra time, the emotional and physical toll it had on the players. We’re seeing those effects right now so I wouldn’t say it’s down to Klopp’s announcement earlier this campaign.
