St. Patrick admits even he will be watching Man United v Liverpool instead of parades

St. Patrick's unhappy with FA Cup matches spoiling his big weekend - but he'll still be watching

In a stunning development, St Patrick has revealed he’ll be sitting on a bar stool watching Man United v Liverpool rather than taking in the parades run in his honour, Paddy Power News can exclusively confirm.

The patron saint of the Emerald Isle issued a rare public statement over his weekend plans as he prepares to begrudingly share the limelight with Erik ten Hag and Jurgen Klopp.

March 17th has a special place in the hearts of Irish people across the world as the planet turns a little greener, the Guinness flows and the Ireland’s No.1 snake rustler is hailed.

St. Patrick showed snakes the door long before Facebook ranters called out their enemies with ‘sick of all these snakes, hun’ and the gratitude remains.

However, despite pubs across the world gearing up for chancers drinking their yearly pint of the black stuff, as they chew the ear off anyone over their far flung Irish roots, the FA Cup has gate crashed the party.

Liverpool make the short trip down the M62 to face United and a 3:30pm kick off places the showdown right in the middle of the celebrations.

While most revellers will be combining Klopp’s attempt quash a baldy Manc manager for a second weekend running, St Patrick himself is not happy with the schedule.

Jurgen Klopp FA Cup

“Look, I get one weekend a year, where everyone focuses on me. It’s right there in the diary every year…it never changes!” he fumed to PP sources.

“I hear fans moaning all the time about how the Premier League and TV companies don’t care about them – I know exactly how they feel now!”

However, the bearded crosier-bearer insisted he WILL watch the match despite his complaints.

“In fairness, there’s nothing more Irish than screaming at a TV about Man United and Liverpool on a Sunday afternoon in the pub,” he admitted.

However, he’s said he won’t be providing any divine intervention for the hosts maintain and their cup dreams.

“Even the Almighty himself can’t save Erik ten Hag,” he opined. “Klopp is making the right call to leave in the summer too –  like myself, you should go out on a high and always leave them wanting more.”

The saint then explained how he’d “probably head home early – pick up a curry and whatever three-for-two beer offer Tesco has on this weekend.”

“Patrick’s day – it’s all gone too commercial,” he said.
