Hollywood’s highest-paid actor Adam Sandler attended Stamford Bridge for Chelsea’s clash against Newcastle United and the 57-year-old made a stark admission after watching the Geordies ship 3 goals in a game for the 9th time this season.
Cole Palmer scored a goal and provided an assist for Chelsea in a 3-2 victory over Eddie Howe’s beleaguered Newcastle side.
Speaking to Paddy Power News after the game, Sandler told us:
‘That was the worst 100 minutes I’ve sat through since the Grown-ups 2 premiere’.
‘I’ve seen some dodgy defences in my time: the OJ ‘Dream Team’; Steven Avery’s nephew hiring Len Kachinsky; but Newcastle’s is the worst.
‘Dan Burn at left-back gave the worst performance I’ve witnessed since I starred in Little Nicky’.
Sandler, who skipped not winning anything at the Oscars, has been spotted in London recently and opened up about the nature of his visit.
‘I was looking for some inspiration for a new movie and this comical defending certainly got my creative juices flowing’.
‘We’re going to make a sports comedy about Newcastle United.
‘It’s a true underdog story about a little soccer club from the North of England who are facing relegation then stumble upon a £300 squillion cash injection to find themselves in the dizzy heights of midtable mediocrity.
‘David Spade will play Eddie Howe; Kevin James has asked to be Dan Burn and I will play Jason Tindall.
‘After all, he is the star of the show.’
‘To prepare for the role of Tindall I’ll make daily visits to a local solarium and sleep in the St James’ Park technical area’.
Meanwhile, Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino was delighted with the victory which tightens Chelsea’s grip on 11th place.
‘Death, taxes and Chelsea ending up in 11th place after a round of Premier League fixtures’, the Argentine told Paddy Power News.
