Manchester City remain on course to be stripped of a second Champions League trophy after they cruised past Copenhagen to reach the quarter-final stages.

Pep Guardiola’s side eased to a 6-2 aggregate victory over the Danish outfit and look destined to repeat their 2023 Champions League triumph, before having both titles rescinded for breaching 115 FFP rules.

‘This is all a massive waste of time. No?’, Guardiola told Paddy Power News after the game.

‘Once UEFA and the Premier League finally get round to punishing us, we’ll be lucky to reach the final of the Papa John’s Trophy’.

‘But why should I care? By then, I’ll be managing the richest club in a farmer’s league or maybe even El Halifax in the Saudi Pro League’, grinned the Spaniard.

Erling Haaland went joint top of the tournament scoring charts alongside Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe as he netted his sixth of the campaign.

The Norwegian, who Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reminded everyone Manchester United could have signed for £17m in 2019, says he’ll still have no regrets over his City move – even if they are stripped of their titles and relegated to League Two.

‘I’d rather be banging in quadruple hattricks against Morecambe and Crawley Town than be stood with my hands on my hips in the Old Trafford penalty box watching Antony do Spinaroonies near the corner flag’.

Meanwhile, Guardiola says he will not be spending any time thinking about Liverpool ahead of their Anfield title encounter this weekend.

‘We’re playing Liverpool on Sunday? First I’ve heard of it, mate’, shrugged the former Barca boss.

When pressed on why he then decided to make seven changes from the side which beat Manchester United, the 53-year-old snapped:

‘My life is better than yours. My grey hooded cardigan is worth more than your house, you peasant. No disrespect’.
