Why does Man City v Man Utd kick off at 3:30pm on Sunday?

Who will claim bragging rights in Manchester?

Kevin de Bruyne and Marcus Rashford

Man City v Man Utd is one of the biggest derbies in the English game and the two rivals will go head to head once again this weekend in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium.

The match will take place on Sunday in front of the Sky Sports cameras, but it will take place at the unusual kick-off time of 3.30pm rather than an hour later like we’re used to on a typical Super Sunday.

The change has been agreed between the broadcasters and police to prevent as much crowd trouble as possible. It has also affected the early kick-off between Burnley and Bournemouth, which will get underway at 1pm instead of 2pm.

The fixture at Old Trafford earlier this season saw City win convincingly 3-0 thanks to a brace from Erling Halaand and an 80th-minute strike from Phil Foden.

United’s last victory in the fixture away from home came back in 2021, when the Red Devils stunned City behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Erik ten Hag’s side are looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham and City are yet to lose at home this season so it’ll take a lot for the visitors to win.
