Jose Mourinho Next Job Odds: What’s next for the Special One?

Could he return to the Premier League?

The ‘Special One’ is now unemployed, but surely it won’t be long before he’s back in management.

Mourinho’s record speaks for itself. He’s a serial winner, if you back him then you’re more than likely to lift silverware. Unless you’re Tottenham, but who wins at Spurs?

It’s fair to say he’s been around. Rivalries went out the window when the Chelsea legend moved to north London back in 2019 a year after his spell at Manchester United ended in turmoil.

Since he left England, Mourinho spent two and a half years in charge of Roma where he won the Europa Conference League and got them to a Europa League final.

The highlight of his career so far though has to be his treble-winning season at Inter Milan in 2010, or maybe you think it’s miraculously winning the Champions League with Porto in 2003.

Either way, he’s been around for a long time. People say he’s past it, but there are still many clubs that will jump at the chance of appointing Mourinho. So, where will he end up next?

Fenerbahce

Could Mourinho be heading to Turkey this summer?

Fenerbahce could be eyeing the Portuguese manager with Ismail Kartal potentially set to be axed.

The Turkish side have plenty of well-known players from Michy Batshuayi to Caglar Soyuncu. Is Mourinho the man to get the best out of the squad?

Newcastle

Mourinho’s mentor is boyhood Newcastle fan and former manager Sir Bobby Robson, so the ‘Special One’ managing the Magpies just makes sense.

Now they’ve got money, Mourinho could use his experience to take them to the top of English football. It would be a fairytale story and one that could happen sometime in the future.

Chelsea

He couldn’t, could he? Chelsea owner Todd Boehly isn’t scared of making shock managerial decisions. He replaced Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel with Graham Potter before bringing in former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino

If he wanted to get fans on his side then appointing Mourinho for his third spell at the club would do just that. However, Chelsea have spent a huge amount of money and probably couldn’t afford a huge payout if they sacked Pochettino.

Marseille

One top league Mourinho has yet to manage in is Ligue 1. He has flirted with the Paris Saint-Germain job on several occasions but what about their rivals Marseille?

The French giants are still the only team from the country to lift the European Cup. They are currently ninth in the table so it would be a rebuilding job, but living in the south of France makes it an attractive option.

Liverpool

With Jurgen Klopp leaving Anfield at the end of the season, could Mourinho surprise everyone and jump into the Merseyside hot seat?

He’s previously managed two of Liverpool’s rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, but he is one of the few choices available with a serious pedigree in the Premier League and Champions League.

England national team

Gareth Southgate is likely to depart England after this summer’s Euros regardless of what happens. Mourinho would be an unlikely choice for the FA, but he has proven to be one of the best managers ever in knockout tournaments.

Could the special one guide England to World Cup glory in 2026?
