Bayern Munich legend Samuel Kuffour was seen beating the ground in frustration after hearing rumours the German giants are ‘monitoring’ former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as a potential interim manager.
Onlookers claim the Ghanian dropped to his knees in the Allianz Arena car park and began thumping the tarmac with his fists when told Solskjaer was being lined up to replace under-fire Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel.
As news of the Norwegian’s possible appointment spread, Kuffour was joined in the car park by other Bayern greats including an inconsolable Carsten Jancker and Oliver Kahn who reportedly just sat on the floor in utter disbelief.
Addressing the incident, Kuffour told Paddy Power News:
‘Nah, we’re just taking the piss now’.
‘It’s bad enough we’ve gone full Spursy since signing Kane and Dier. Now we’re bringing in a PE teacher who signed Dan James to manage the club.
‘If Mick Phelan comes here and does even one interview in English with a sh*t German accent I’m going to support Dortmund. I mean it’.
It’s understood Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund is an admirer of Solskjaer and may look to bring the 50-year-old in for the remainder of the season if Tuchel is sacked.
But sources claim Solskjaer will only consider the move if the Bundesliga champions can reunite him with midfielders Scott McTominay and Fred who were an integral part of his trophyless reign as United boss.
‘Ole wants to put the band back together’, a source close to the former Molde boss told Paddy Power News.
‘He wants the fans to be able to one day tell their grandkids they watched Bayern play with a midfield trio of Dier, McTominay and Fred’.
However, upon hearing he planned to sign ‘McFred’, Bayern fans voted their injury-time defeat in the Champions League as only the 2nd worst thing Solskjaer has ever done to the club.
