The Women’s World Cup is finally here as the best players on the planet battle it out for the biggest prize in football.

The ninth edition of the tournament takes place from Thursday, July 20 to Sunday, August 20 and the hosting duties are being shared by Australia and New Zealand.

The United States of America went into proceedings as the defending champions but the Stars and Stripes failed in their bid to win the title for an unprecedented third time in a row.
