Carlo Ancelotti is a serial winner and he’s picked up silverware at pretty much every club he’s been in charge of other than, obviously, Everton. He won the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup at Real Madrid last year but it has been announced he’s  leaving to take over Brazil’s national team at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Real missed out on the La Liga title in 2022/23 behind Barcelona and they failed to retain the Champions League so, with it announced that he’s off, will Ancelotti see out the remainder of this contract or get the heave-ho before?

So let’s have a look at some of the likely Next Real Madrid Manager contenders to take over at the Bernabeu.

Raul

Real Madrid legend Raul is currently in charge of the club’s B team so a step up to the Bernabeu hot seat would make sense.

However, does he have enough experience to run the biggest club in the world? Raul was one of Real’s best ever players but it remains to be seen if he could replicate that success in the dugout.

Xabi Alonso

From one former Real Madrid player to another now in Xabi Alonso. The Spaniard is in charge of Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen after impressing during his three years with Real Sociedad B.

Alonso has a 46 per cent win rate during his time at Bayer Leverkusen so the stats back up his ability to coach.

Julian Nagelsmann

Julian Nagelsmann is available after being axed by Bayern Munich, despite the German side being top of the Bundesliga and in the Champions League quarter-finals at the time

He’s a young and progressive manager who looks destined for future success but is he the right option for Real right now?

Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane has already had two spells in charge at Real so maybe a third wouldn’t hurt? Zidane, who is a legend in Madrid, has had plenty of trophy success during his time at the club in both the Champions League and La Liga.

Real could be fighting off PSG if they pursue Zidane, with the French giants thought to be eyeing their countryman to take over in Paris.

Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta’s stock is incredibly high as Arsenal fell just short in their pursuit of their first Premier League title since their Invincibles season in 2003/04.

The Spaniard, who worked under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, has transformed the Gunners from a top-seven team to genuine title contenders. Could Arteta be tempted to leave his former club in favour of a move back to Spain?
