Leeds’ experiment of appointing Sam Allardyce for four games at the end of last season in hope of avoiding relegation didn’t work out, with the Whites now back in the Championship.

Leeds spent 16 years out of the top flight following their relegation in 2004 but will they bounce back up straight away this time?

The answer to that question could depend on who takes over at Elland Road and the Paddy Power traders have put together the best prices for who will be the Leeds manager for first game of 2023/24 season.

Daniel Farke

Former Norwich and Borussia Monchengladbach manager Daniel Farke is the current favourite to take over from Sam Allardyce at Elland Road. In his first season at Norwich, the Canaries finished an underwhelming 14th but in the following campaign they were promoted as Championship winners. They were subsequently relegated on their return to the Premier League but against won the Championship in 2020-21 season. He was let go in November of 2021 after a string of bad results.

He was appointed Krasnodar manager the following January but didn’t manage a single game thanks to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. ‘Gladbach finished 10th under him last season where they were one of the best teams at home, losing just four times but only managed one win on their Bundesliga travels. Certainly has the experience to bring Leeds back up and could be the right fit.

Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard has been looking for work since being axed by Aston Villa last year. The Liverpool icon did well north of the border at Rangers but it didn’t go to plan for him at Villa.

He was one of the best to play in England but he’s yet to prove he’s up there as a manager. Could Leeds take a chance on Gerrard?

Carlos Corberan

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan is reportedly being considered by Leeds to take over at Elland Road this summer in a huge off-season for the club.

Corberan was at Leeds as Marcelo Bielsa’s assistant before deciding to be the No. 1 at Huddersfield Town and then the Baggies. Could Corberan be tempted to swap the Midlands for a Yorkshire return?

Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers would be a shrewd appointment for Leeds if they can convince him to take over in the Championship.

He guided Leicester to FA Cup and Community Shield success before it went downhill and he left by mutual consent earlier this year. Leeds would have to fend off a few rivals to land Rodgers.

Regis Le Bris

Regis Le Bris is currently in charge of Lorient in Ligue 1 and he’s refused to rule out a move to Leeds which has further fueled speculation he’s heading to England.

He guided Lorient to a 10th-placed finish last season and he’s done a solid job in France.

Graham Potter

Graham Potter was sacked by Chelsea earlier this year but his stock is still high after his solid work on the south coast at Brighton before that.

Potter is looking to get back into work but could he be tempted to take the job at Leeds with them in the Championship?

Scott Parker

Scott Parker is available after being axed by Club Brugge, however, he had a dismal time in Belgium and he finished with a win percentage of 16.7 per cent.

Parker did well in spells at Fulham and Bournemouth, however, he talked himself out of the job on the south coast after going off on the club’s hierarchy. Is he the right man to guide Leeds back to the Premier League?

Rafa Benitez

Rafa Benitez has been looking for a new job since being axed by Everton last year and the Spaniard has managed a host of top clubs and players in his career.

Whether going from being Liverpool and Real Madrid manager to taking over at Leeds is something he’d want remains to be seen.

Benitez, who has also been linked with a move to West Ham, had a poor spell at Everton but he’s obviously good enough to succeed in the Championship.
