Next Manchester United manager odds: Who could replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford?

It's all gone Pete Tong at Old Trafford. Again.

Erik Ten Hag

After turning around their fortunes last season with, erm, a Carabao Cup trophy and a top-four finish, the wheels look to have come off for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

The only consolation to their torrid season is that they have made it through to the FA Cup final, although it did take a penalty shootout victory after United surrendered a 3-0 lead to Championship side Coventry.

The Red Devils will now face arch-rivals Manchester City in what will be a repeat of last year’s final – but will Ten Hag still be in a job by then?

Many have had enough after the embarrassing performance against Coventry and are even calling for a change before the end of the season.

With the pressure mounting on the not-so-flying Dutchman, we’ve asked our traders to look into the next Manchester United manager odds for who could replace him.

Here’s the latest runners and riders.

Gareth Southgate England

Gareth Southgate

England manager Gareth Southgate is preparing for yet another big summer as he looks to finally guide The Three Lions to a tournament victory on the international stage.

He’s been at the helm since 2018 and he will likely step down at the end of the Euros regardless of the outcome. Could Old Trafford be his next destination?

Graham Potter

Graham Potter only lasted six months at Chelsea following his move from Brighton and his reputation will have taken a hit as a result. However, the Stamford Bridge side were a bit of a basket case and it felt like more players arrived than the club scored goals in that time.

Thomas Tuchel

Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season after a disastrous league campaign.

The fact he would be available for nothing could appeal to Manchester United, he also has Premier League experience and is a Champions League-winning manager.

Julian Nagelsmann

Julian Nagelsmann was axed by Bayern Munich last year and replaced by Thomas Tuchel. He’s now the manager of the German national team, but would that stop him double-jobbing in Manchester?

He’s a young and progressive manager but is that what United need? Or do the Old Trafford hierarchy want a manager that can win silverware now?

Ruben Amorim

Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim is also on the list to take over at Old Trafford.

The 38-year-old has masterminded Sporting wins over English sides in Europe and his stock as a young boss is high.

Amorim led Lisbon-based club to their first title in just under 20 years during his first full season in charge. Could he do the same at Old Trafford?

Roberto De Zerbi

Roberto De Zerbi has done a fantastic job at Brighton, with his side landing a spot in Europe. The Italian has been linked with numerous clubs around Europe, with De his stock rising since he took over at Brighton. Could the Seagulls fend off interest from big suitors? Or will De Zerbi jump ship like Graham Potter?

Zinedine Zidane

More of an ego manager than a football manager. Zinedine Zidane feels like the boss-level Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and had great success at Real Madrid. He was less effective in his second stint there but could do well with United’s bottomless resources and star names. He might be holding out for the France national team or the PSG job, though.

Julen Lopetegui

Former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui left Molineux last summer and he’s looking for his next role. It’s claimed he’s still living in England, therefore hinting he’s keen on another Premier League job.

He’s managed Real Madrid and the Spain national side so he’s been in charge during pressure situations – is he the right man for United?

Thomas Frank

Brentford haven’t been great this season but Thomas Frank is highly rated for the job he’s done turning them from a Championship club to a Premier League regular.

Whilst it’s an unlikely option it would be interesting to see how he would do at a bigger club.

Hansi Flick

If Old Trafford’s top brass fancy appointing a manager that is available to start work straight away then former Germany boss Hansi Flick is free.

Despite things going sour with the national team, Flick led Bayern Munich to a treble including the Champions League in 2019/20.
