Next Liverpool Manager Odds: Who will replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield?

All good things must come to an end, Liverpool fans.

Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has delivered the bombshell news that he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

The German manager has revolutionised the Reds’ fortunes since his arrival in October 2015 and his impending exit leaves Anfield bigwigs with a big decision to make.

Klopp said: “It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.

“After the years we had together and after all the time we spent together and after all the things we went through together, the respect grew for you, the love grew for you and the least I owe you is the truth – and that is the truth.”

A whole host of big names are likely to be linked with the job, but Paddy’s trusty traders are on hand to show you where the money is going right now.

Xabi Alonso

Xabi Alonso

Former Liverpool midfield maestro, Xabi Alonso, is doing a mighty fine job with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany as they lead Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga table by five points. No doubt, taking the top job at Anfield would be a big step up, though.

Ruben Amorim

The Portuguese manager has built a strong squad of young players at Sporting CP and, as a result, has attracted interest from several of Europe’s top clubs.

He was under consideration for the Tottenham job before they appointed Ange Postecoglou and has been touted as a future manager of Manchester United.

Pep Lijnders

He’s stood beside Klopp throughout his reign at Anfield but could Lijnders handle the pressure and step up to succeed him as manager of Liverpool?

The Dutchman is loved by fans and has the advantage of having already worked with the group, but it would be his first managerial job so perhaps he needs more experience before taking on such a huge role.

Roberto Di Zerbi

Roberto De Zerbi

Roberto De Zerbi has impressed since taking over from Graham Potter at Brighton and they secured European football in his first campaign. It’s also fair to say his high-octane style of play would resonate with the Kop faithful. Could the Reds make a move for the Italian after his success on the south coast?

Julian Nagelsmann

Why not replace one trendy German manager with another? Call for the next cab off the rank, ex-Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann. The 35-year-old impressed at Bayern and he could be tempted by the Premier League but he’s currently in charge of his country’s national side.

Thomas Tuchel

The Bayern Munich manager is under pressure to keep his job after a season that has seen them fall short in every domestic competition so far.

He has Premier League experience having managed Chelsea and guided them to a Champions League victory back in 2021. Whilst he won’t be the first choice, if he’s unemployed Liverpool might be more attracted to him.
