Frank Lampard’s first act if appointed interim Chelsea manager will be to tie Mason Mount down to a new 20-year contract.
The 44-year-old is set to replace Graham Potter who was hired to replace Thomas Tuchel who was hired to replace Lampard about 2-years ago.
Mount has found himself out of favour of late but Lampard’s appointment could mean a change of fortune for the 24-year-old midfielder.
‘Mason’s been on the periphery this season, struggled for form and there’s even talk of him joining Liverpool or Tottenham in the summer. It could be time for him to move on’, Lampard told Paddy Power News.
‘No, but seriously, I’m going to hand him a new 20-year deal’.
‘I’ve told Mason I’m going to bring him back into the side, build the team around him and give him the captain’s armband’.
‘After training, we’re heading down to the UK Deed Poll office on York Street to change his name legally to Frank Lampard Jr Jr’, grinned the former Everton boss.

Known for a strict disciplinarian approach, Lampard confirmed he’ll be reintroducing a fines system and player leadership group to maintain standards that he believes will help Chelsea to progress this season.
‘Anyone late to Mason’s birthday party at Pizza Hut next Tuesday will be fined £20,000’.
‘Our player leadership group will consist of the following players: Mason Mount. That is all’.
‘Anyone who does not refer to Mason as ‘Skip’, ‘Guv’ or ‘Ever-Victorious Iron-Willed Commander’, will be fined £20,000’.
Meanwhile, after hearing that Frank Lampard is set for a shock second stint in the Chelsea dugout, former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spent the morning trying to link Erik Ten Hag to the JFK assassination.
