Antonio Conte got the boot after basically begging to be sacked by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy following his post-match press conference which saw him slag off the players, the club and Spurs’ history as a whole.

He’d also previously he’d blamed the fans for Tottenham’s Champions League exit against AC Milan. With it being an international break, it was one of the worst kept secrets that Conte would be axed.

With the Italian gone, we’re looking at some of the favourites to be the Tottenham Manager for first game of the 2023/24 season.

Julian Nagelsmann

German boss Julian Nagelsmann was, perhaps a little surprisingly, given the boot by Bayern Munich recently with former Chelsea manager and a man who featured highly on this list, Thomas Tuchel, replacing him. It feels like Nagelsmann would be a good fit in terms of the style the Spurs fans want to see and we’d be all for it, for no reason more than we’d get to see his mad touchline threads every weekend.

Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino, who has been out of work since leaving PSG, is always linked with a return to Tottenham and his price to return to his old employees has been dropping very steadily of late. The Argentine is adored by most Spurs fans and many would love to have him back in north London. His style of play is easy on the eye and he’s also got a great relationship with star men Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.

Some are put off by the old adage of ‘never going back’ but he’s probably the best fit for the players on the books at Spurs and with a French league title to his name now he might have the experience to push on this squad. A reunion could be on the cards.

Oliver Glasner

Another interesting name near the top of the list is Eintracht Frankfurt’s Austrian boss Oliver Glasner. He guided the Bundesliga side to the 21/22 Europa League so at least comes armed with something shiny in his personal trophy cabinet.

Luis Enrique

Former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique may just be tempted to return to management by taking a big name team in the Premier League. Of the current Big 6, it’s only the Chelsea job that looks like becoming available and it would be hard to see Enrique taking over that basket case and the players on Spurs’ books would suit his style of play better.

Enrique won two La Liga titles with Barcelona, one Champions League and a Club World Cup and guided Spain to a runner-up place in the 2020-21 Nations League. His sides play lovely football on the eye, although they can sometimes over-pass the ball when in possession. His experience might be exactly what this group of players need.

Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane has been linked with a move to the Premier League at least once a year for the past five seasons so could Tottenham be his landing spot?

Zidane is a proven winner and he won plenty of silverware at Real. Zidane is an outsider here but he might prefer to take a job will a little less pressure than a PSG or Man City… for the time being.

Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank has done a brilliant job at Brentford, with the Bees pushing to finish in the top six this season. Frank was linked with a move to Aston Villa before they appointed Unai Emery, however, the Dane ended up signing a new long-term contract with Brentford. While Frank is flying at Brentford, the allure of a bigger club like Tottenham could be an opportunity he can’t turn down.

Roberto De Zerbi

Roberto De Zerbi falls into a similar category as Frank, with the Italian doing excellent work at Brighton. The Seagulls are genuine top-six contenders and they could even push for the top four if their form holds up. However, Brighton are well aware after Graham Potter that they struggle to keep managers and players if a big offer comes in.

Massimiliano Allegri

Massimiliano Allegri is currently in his second spell at Juventus, who look to have turned a corner following their Serie A points deduction. However, Juve are in a moment of transition and won’t have much money for quite a few transfer windows and we know has previously loved to splash the cash to keep Juventus at the top of the Serie A table.

Allegri has the experience of managing big clubs from his time at The Old Lady and AC Milan and he would expect Tottenham to spend big in the transfer market to back him. We know that probably wouldn’t sit well with Mr. Levy.
