Tottenham make shock bid for West Ham shot-stopper Tomas Soucek

Spurs have finally got their Lloris replacement.

Tottenham have made a shock swoop for West Ham’s Tomas Soucek amid a goalkeeper injury crisis at the Premier League top-four challengers.

Spurs were on the receiving end of a 4-1 hammering at Leicester City on Saturday and manager Antonio Conte is understood to be in the market for a shot-stopper to fill the gap left by Hugo Lloris’ long-term injury.

Regular No.1 Lloris faces up to three months on the sidelines with back-up keeper Fraser Forster failing to inspire confidence in the King Power Stadium rout.

And the North London side have now turned their attention to Czech Republic international Soucek, who put himself as front runner for the PFA Save of the Season award following his remarkable late heroics during the match against Chelsea.

The Hammers star diverted a Conor Gallagher effort wide late on in the 1-1 draw with the Blues at London Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.

Soucek’s quick reflexes ensured a point for his side and drew comparisons with a peak Gordon Banks

And Tottenham have now decided to try and tempt the 27-year-old to swap east London for north and fill the void left by the absence of France international Lloris.

Chairman Daniel Levy has come in for criticism from the club’s fanbase for a perceived lack of investment in the team, and Paddy Power News understands the raid for Soucek is an attempt to prove his credentials in the transfer market.

A swoop for Liverpool star Alisson to assist Harry Kane in attack has also been mooted by the Spurs head honcho.

The Brazilian scored a header from a corner against West Brom two seasons ago and that dynamism in the box is seen as a much-needed addition to the ranks with Son Heung-min, Richarlison and pretty much everyone else other than Harry Kane struggling for goals.

Along with the raid on their London rivals for proven shot-stopper Soucek, rumours have been circulating that Ben Foster may be tempted to come out of retirement to provide competition for Forster.

However the club’ in-house media team are understood to be against the move, amid fears ‘The Cycling GK’ will leave their jobs redundant when he vlogs about every single minute of his time at the club.
