Man Utd add mystery Brazilian youth player Casey Mero to Premier League squad

This lad looks awfully familiar.

Manchester United have added Brazilian youth team player Casey Mero to their Premier League squad in a bid to ease their midfield woes.

United are without the services of injured trio Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen ahead of their trip to Elland Road on Sunday, while linchpin Casemiro is currently serving a three-game suspension for impersonating the Boston Strangler.

Highly-talented Casey Mero, 16, trained with the club’s first team this morning sporting a distinctive moustache and thick rimmed glasses.

United’s official website claims the youngster was signed last week from Brazilian side Rio Rovers although there are no records of such a club ever existing.

Manager Erik Ten Hag promoted the youngster to his squad after watching another 90 minutes of Fred trying to play football against Leeds last night.

“Casey can play as a No.6 and will play with us until Casemiro returns from his suspension,” Ten Hag told Paddy Power News.

Addressing the pair’s striking similarities, the 53-year-old said: “Some people might make comparisons between the two because they play in the same position, have the same playing style, the same hairstyle, are the exact same height and weight.

“But Casey has bushy eyebrows, thick rimmed glasses and a moustache. They are totally different.”

Mero is understandably chuffed with his meteoric rise through the United youth ranks.

“It’s always been my dream to play for Manchester United,” said Mero in an unusually high-pitched voice whilst clutching a balloon full of helium.

“I’m going to celebrate my promotion to the first team with a bottle of Prime and a game of FIFA with my mates.”

Meanwhile, Ten Hag confirmed that Casey Mero’s compatriot and teammate Fred is learning Arabic after his performance during last night’s 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old midfielder was spotted leaving the stadium with a copy of the book Arabic for Dummies under his arm.

“I told him to learn the language because he can f**k off to the Saudi league with Cristiano if he plays like that,” the Dutchman added.
