Ronaldo claims he forgot his password amid social media silence

Who won what? Never heard of him, mate.

Cristiano Ronaldo has attributed his social media silence in the wake of Lionel Messi’s World Cup triumph to a forgotten password, Paddy Power News can exclusively reveal.

Many speculated the Portuguese had deliberately given social media a wide steer to avoid acknowledging his Argentine rival’s achievement.

However, the 37-year-old free-agent rubbished such claims with a very simple and wholly believable excuse.

‘Can’t remember my password, mate’, he told Paddy Power News.

‘I’m almost certain it begins with a C and there’s definitely a 7 in there somewhere’.

‘It’ll probably come to me the next time I have something to brag about’.

‘To be honest, the break from social media has been good. It has allowed me to spend more time with the people that matter most, like Piers Morgan’.

‘Piers and I have a lot in common, such as we’re both absolutely head-over-heels in love with Cristiano Ronaldo’.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

When asked if he caught Messi lifting the World Cup trophy after his two-goal performance during Sunday’s final, the former Real Madrid forward said:

‘Piers and I were doing some core exercises at the time, so we missed the whole thing unfortunately’.

‘But well done to Lionel and Argentina on their victory.

‘How many penalties was it they were awarded again? Six?’.

‘Maybe I should’ve signed for Paris Saint Germain? Perhaps then the Qatar World Cup would have been rigged for me to win it instead? No, but seriously, fair play to Lionel’.

Meanwhile, Piers Morgan announced he will also be taking a break from social media after Messi’s World Cup success.

‘Going off this for a while. Too many snakes on this thing’, tweeted the 57-year-old former tabloid editor, along with several hissing serpent emojis.

‘Not saying no more on here but watch your back, you know who you are. Meghan and Harry’.

‘Just going to look after me and Ronaldo from now on’.
