Jude Bellingham was arguably England’s standout performer at the World Cup in Qatar, with the Borussia Dortmund midfielder shining for the Three Lions.
Bellingham, 19, has been linked with numerous Premier League clubs after impressing for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and the Champions League – and his stock is even higher after the World Cup.
Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson has given his thoughts on Bellingham’s future and who could sign him.
THOMMO: I’d be absolutely delighted if Liverpool signed Jude Bellingham.
I’ve seen reports of £100m for him and I’d write that cheque now if I was in charge!
I would be delighted if they got him for £100m.
Football clubs realise that World Cup’s can make players. If you don’t do the deal and they have a great tournament, the price goes up by a third or a half.
I think the deal to sign Bellingham is done and in place and hopefully it’s for my beloved Liverpool!
But some club will have done the deal before the World Cup.
Bellingham will be feeling the same as everyone else right now when it comes to England’s World Cup exit. The biggest thing is that we all know England have missed a great opportunity. It would have been Morocco in the semi-finals and I know they’ve done well but that’s an ideal draw.
It would have been Argentina or Croatia in the final and we would have had enough to beat them. That’s what hurts.
The performance was great against France but it just didn’t go our way. I think we should have beaten France in that game but Didier Deschamps has a brilliant team.
I thought England grew into it as they’ve done in a lot of games. That’s why I thought the second half was absolutely fantastic for England and we just totally dominated.
I was so desperate for England to do it but it wasn’t to be.
All prices are bang up to date with our snazzy widgets, while odds in copy are accurate at time of publishing but subject to change.
