When does the Premier League restart after the World Cup?

It'll be back before you know it!

All good things must come to an end and, unfortunately, that includes the World Cup.

The World Cup final on Sunday, December 18 is fast approaching but the silver lining is that there won’t be too long to wait for the Premier League to resume.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

The last lick of top-flight action took place on Sunday, November 11 when Alejandro Garnacho netted a last-gap winner for Manchester United at Fulham, but the Red Devils’ victory was quickly overshadowed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive chat with Piers Morgan.

Arsenal fans will be eager for the Premier League to get going as their team sit top of the tree at Christmas. Mikel Arteta’s team won 12 of their 14 games before the winter break and are clear of Manchester City by five points.

After a six-week pause, the Premier League is set to restart on Boxing Day with seven fixtures including the London derby between the Gunners and West Ham.

It will be a slap-dash sprint to the finish line for all 20 teams as the last round of Premier League fixtures are scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 28.

There is an additional round of matches – plus a few more – to pack in from the first half of the season which were postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Incredibly, there is domestic action before the Premier League resumes as the fourth round of the Carabao Cup is squeezed into the fixture list before Santa pops down your chimney.

Just 10 top-flight teams are left in the competition including Manchester City and Liverpool, who meet at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday, December 22.
