FIFA ask Bale to remove deckchair from pitch after Iran loss

Wasn't his best game, was it?

Gareth Bale Wales Nations League

Senior delegates within FIFA are understood to have contacted the Welsh FA to ask why Gareth Bale was sunbathing on a deckchair during their World Cup clash with Iran when he should have been playing football.

Event organisers were left “baffled and confused” by Bale’s antics which consisted of making himself completely invisible for the entire game, only to reappear in the 98th minute on his deckchair, dreaming of making that 40ft birdie putt, cocktail in hand.

“Gareth didn’t register on the heatmap until injury time. We all assumed Wales had played the entire game with ten men as that partially explained why they were so sh*t, yet out of the corner of my eye I saw him chilling out, smiling, loving his life with his side 2-0 down,” confirmed a FIFA representative.

Despite being on the cusp of exiting the World Cup at the group stages, Bale has received backing from Welsh supporters, with one fan having this to say to Paddy Power News.

“Yes, we are gutted about the defeat, but you’ve got to appreciate the levels of sophistication that went into his disappearing act,” said Wales fan Dafydd Thomas.

“He began this trick back in 2018 where he managed to go completely invisible at club level, so to carry this trick onto the international stage was pretty special if you ask me. He’s a true magician.

“Fair play to him. Magic is a difficult thing to master yet Gareth has done it perfectly. The fans back home are going wild down there at Gareth’s continued dedication to removing himself from the sport years before it’s necessary.”

However, not everyone was impressed with the antics of the Wales captain as the estate of Harry Houdini filed a copyright infringement complaint against Bale at full-time for stealing his famous disappearing act.

And goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has also attracted the attention of martial artist and Hollywood legend, Jackie Chan for his antics in the game.

Described as “unimpressed by the amateur technique”, Chan claims Hennessey stole his kung-fu kick move and is willing to “pursue all legal avenues of redress” against the Welsh number one unless a public apology is made and the shotstopper promises to never ever, ever, ever attempt such a ridiculous act again.
