One of the world’s best footballers is set to be crowned the winner of the Ballon d’Or 2022 at a star-studded ceremony.
A shortlist of 30 players are vying to take home the France Football prize and for the first time in history it will be decided on achievements in the previous season as opposed to the calendar year.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have enjoyed a stranglehold of the award for what feels like an eternity, other than 2018 when Luka Modric came out on top, but the former Barcelona superstar is absent from the shortlist for the first time since 2005 while his Manchester United rival hardly set the world alight last term.
