Why is Everton v Man Utd at 7pm on Sunday? What TV channel is it on?

Bit of a weird kick-off time, tbh.

If you’ve had a glance at the Premier League fixture list, you’ll have noticed there’s one match taking place at a strange old time this weekend.

Manchester United’s trip to Goodison Park to face Frank Lampard’s Everton kicks off at 7pm on Sunday – which annoyingly clashes with Antiques Roadshow – and it’s for a rather mundane reason.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

No, Premier League bigwigs aren’t attempting to throw it back to that weird period of the coronavirus pandemic when every top-flight clash was shown on television at different times.

It’s all to do with Manchester United’s Europa League commitments and a certain broadcaster called BT Sport.

The Premier League rule book – a thrilling read – states that teams playing in Europe on either Wednesday or Thursday cannot play at 12:30pm on Saturday to give their players sufficient time to recover.

Which is a shame as BT Sport originally selected Everton v Man Utd for their Saturday lunchtime slot.

A further complication is that the fixture cannot be played until Sunday at the earliest because the Red Devils face Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia on Thursday.

The traditional Sunday kick-off times are also out of the question as Sky Sports have already filled the 2pm (Crystal Palace v Leeds) and 4.30pm (Arsenal v Liverpool) slots so the game has been scheduled for 7pm on BT Sport 1.
