The marathon slog to reach the promised land of the Premier League gets underway at the end of this month, but which teams will be celebrating at the end of the campaign?

Fulham, inspired by the red-hot Aleksandar Mitrovic, blitzed their way to the EFL Championship title last season and were joined in toasting promotion by Bournemouth and play-off winners Nottingham Forest.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

Burnley, Norwich and Watford have taken their places in the second tier following relegation from the top flight and all three clubs will no doubt be eager to secure instant returns.

It looks set to be another cracking Championship campaign full of twists and turns, and we’ve taken a look at Paddy Power’s To Be Promoted 2022/23 betting market to pick out the league’s leading contenders. You can see the latest prices on our snazzy widgets below.

Norwich are the ultimate yo-yo team but the man who masterminded their last two promotions – Daniel Farke – is long gone after being ditched for Dean Smith midway through last term. The former Aston Villa boss already has one Premier League promotion on his managerial CV and he provides stability in the Carrow Road dugout. A fair bit of Championship nous in the squad makes the Canaries the favourites to fly back to the top table.

Watford immediately bounced back after their last relegation from the Premier League so it’s no surprise that the Hornets are towards the head of our betting. Up-and-coming coach Rob Edwards has replaced Roy Hodgson as manager and there hasn’t been too much upheaval among their playing squad, with a couple of exciting additions in attack potentially offsetting any major departures.

One of last season’s serial storylines was West Brom‘s struggles in front of goal as they limped to a 10th-place finish. On paper, the Baggies still possess a strong squad at this level and Steve Bruce, who replaced Valerien Ismael in the dugout last term, has won promotion to the Premier League on four occasions.

Burnley are rated by our traders as the least likely of the relegated trio to secure an instant return to the Premier League but the appointment of Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany as manager and signing of Scott Twine from MK Dons has caught the eye. The loss of their influential backline – Nick Pope, James Tarkowski and Ben Mee – is a cause for concern, however.

Chris Wilder taking the reins at the Riverside Stadium proved key to Middlesbrough finishing as high as seventh last term and the ex-Sheffield United boss will be eager to keep the momentum going into the new campaign. The additions of Zack Steffen, Darragh Lenihan and Ryan Giles look promising so our traders fancy Boro to be in the mix.

Wilder’s former club Sheffield United are also priced to be among the promotion contenders after overcoming a slow start last season to finish in the play-offs, where they lost out to Nottingham Forest in the semi-finals. Paul Heckingbottom has made some smart signings this summer and the Blades could prove tough to blunt if they make a sharp start.

The EFL Championship season gets underway on Friday, July 29 when Huddersfield host Burnley and you can check out our range of outright betting markets on the Paddy Power website.
