Women’s Euro 2022 is almost upon us, with England v Austria kicking off the tournament on Wednesday, July 6. England will host the competition, with games being held in London, Manchester, Brighton and a host of other cities.
But who will win the competition this summer? Paddy Power’s traders have put together the list of potential winners. You can see all the Women’s Euro 2022 markets here.
Spain are Paddy’s current favourites to win Women’s Euro 2022, despite England hosting the tournament. Their squad is made up of numerous Barcelona stars including Alexia Putellas, Jennifer Hermoso and Aitana Bonmati. Barcelona Women won all 30 of their league games last season and went on to reach the Champions League final.
England have the home advantage for this summer’s tournament and Sarina Wiegman’s side will be confident of shining. Wiegman won the Women’s Euros in 2017 while in charge of Netherlands so she knows what’s needed to go all the way. Is it coming home?
Netherlands are the reigning champions after their 2017 triumph and their hopes are firmly pinned on Arsenal’s Vivianne Miedema. She is the all-time top scorer for her country and averages a goal in every start for the Gunners.
While France’s men’s side has had success, the women’s side are slight underperformers. They’ve never won an international tournament, however, they’re coming into this one in fine form. They’re worth keeping an eye on.
Germany are the most successful team in Women’s Euro history having won the competition on eight occasions. However, they’re not as good as they used to be and they could only reach the quarter-finals in 2017.
Sweden are currently ranked No. 2 in the FIFA World Ranking. They reached the quarter-finals in 2017 and won the third-place playoff at the World Cup in 2019. They’ve won the competition before and they could be a dark horse this summer.
