The 22-year-old scored 34 goals for Benfica in all competitions last season, and before signing on the dotted line for Jurgen Klopp’s side was linked with a host of top European sides. And Tottenham.
Those with good memories will remember Nunez grabbed a goal in both Champions League Quarter Final legs, as Liverpool overcame Benfica 6-4 on aggregate. Clearly those performances were enough to convince the Reds to part with some serious cash to lure the hitman to Merseyside.

The first question is, will Darwin hit the ground running, or will he need time to evolve into a Premier League star? There will be a lot of pressure on the young man, which comes which such a large price-tag. Liverpool face newly-promoted Fulham first up, before a home game against Crystal Palace and a trip to rivals Manchester United. Can Nunez bag in all three? (Void if he doesn’t play)
And how about if we add home games against another newly-promoted side, Bournemouth, and newly-wealthy side Newcastle United into the mix? Could Nunez go five for five? (Again, void if he doesn’t play in all five)
But just how many goals is Nunez gonna bag next season? He’s not the only Liverpool player targeting over 20 goals a season, with Mo Salah netting 23 last season, but in a side that scored 94 times last season – goals are always on the menu.

Liverpool must be sick of not winning the Premier League after a points total above 90. Such a return was unheard of just a few years ago and you don’t spend money like this and not expect the goals and trophies to follow. But will this Uruguayan be able to go one better than the one before him and lift the Prem as well as top-scoring for the Reds?
Two big signings. Over £110 million spent. Another Liverpool v City affair, with their Manchester rivals spending over £50 million on Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
