Revealed: Brendan Rodgers’ United exit plan as Leicester pressure builds

Leicester might be going off the rails, but Brendan Rodgers has a plan

Despite mounting pressure at Leicester City, Brendan Rodgers is still dreaming about being the next manager of Man United and Paddy Power News understands that he still has some influential people inside Old Trafford who are prepared to back him.

“He’s on the short-list along with about 40 others” explained one United insider, “anyone who can put out a team that defends like his did at The City Ground must be in with a shout.”

His Leicester side’s capitulation against Nottingham Forest in the cup comes ahead of a likely spanking against Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday night, but as United chiefs look to keep up their recent record of employing totally clueless managers he’s still in the frame for managing the basket case club.

And the Northern Irishman, who is a legend in his own living room, is keen to show he has United DNA pumping through his veins.

“He’s watched The United Way movie about 40 times,” confessed a member of his Leicester back-room staff, “and he’s also trying to boost his social media presence, as he knows that’s vitally important to how United do business these days.”

Until recently, Rodgers’ only follower on Twitter was his mum, but we have been told that he’s working around the clock to raise his profile.

“We’re expecting him to drop a TikTok milk crate challenge any day now, that’ll blow away the United social team,” a close associate of the Leicester manager said.

They also confirmed Rodgers has had a sunbed installed in his office at Leicester’s training ground.

“It’s a bit of a joke among the lads” claimed one player, “We’re out on the training pitch warming up and we can see the neon lights coming for the gaffer’s office. He thinks he’s Big Ron.”

There are also rumours swirling he’s about to go into the recording studio with another big United fan, Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall in an effort to impress the United hierarchy, where they’ll re-record the band’s 1985 smash “Money’s Too Tight( to Mention)” in an effort to show the Glazers he’ll

“Mick and Brendan go back years” explained a member of Hucknall’s PR team, “it’s not widely known that he guested on backing vocals for Simply’s 1992 multi-platinum selling album “Stars”.

“Also, Mick carries a lot of clout at Old Trafford, it was on his advice that they signed Bebe, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gabriel Obertan.”

Rodgers takes his Leicester team to Anfield on Thursday to face former club Liverpool, where close friends told us they reckon he’s ready to prove he’s a natural for the Old Trafford hot-seat.

“He’s going 10 at the back” claimed one, “with a bunch of players who look like they’ve never played together before, then try to nick a goal on the break.

“If that doesn’t get him at least an interview, then nothing will.”
