Arsenal’s scouts will be running the rule over 36-year-old hot prospect Thiago Silva when they entertain Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium, Paddy Power News understands.
The Gunners’ scouting department have identified the Brazilian as one of the rising stars of the game and will be keeping a close eye on his performance when the two London sides clash.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Edu, Arsenal’s technical director, says that Silva fits the current profile of player he’s trying to attract to the club.
‘He’s in his 30s, plays for Chelsea and Brazilian’, the 43-year-old told Paddy Power News.
‘After the success of David Luiz and Willian, the board is keen to pursue the strategy of signing Chelsea rejects. At 36, Thiago’s best years are still ahead of him’, added the former midfielder.
Silva said he is aware of Arsenal’s interest in him but for now, he’s happy to continue his development at Stamford Bridge.
‘Arsenal is a fascinating project and any player would love to be a part of their quest to cement themselves as a top 8 side. But now I’m happy to continue my development with Chelsea and help the club compete for domestic and European silverware.
‘David (Luiz) tells me great things about the Gunners and how they reward shite performances with hefty long-term contracts. One day I hope to follow in the footsteps of other Brazilian legends at Arsenal such as David Luiz, Andre Santos and Denilson’, added the former PSG wonderkid.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has revealed Arsenal’s 2003/4 Invincibles side will start against Chelsea.
‘All the fans will be in the stadium and I’m taking no f**king chances’, the Spaniard told Paddy Power News.
‘Crystal Palace have agreed to let us have Patrick Vieira for the day. Martin Keown can play as long as he doesn’t speak to anyone, put a glass eye to sleep that guy. We told Pascal Cygan he can sit this one out’, he added.
