In one of the most highly anticipated fixtures of the entire Euros (sorry North Macedonia), Euro 2016 champions Portugal face off against a German side who not only have Cristiano Ronaldo and co. to worry about after the incredible finishing prowess of none other than Mats Hummels, who decided to stick one past his own keeper on Tuesday.
Portugal looked good in their opener, finishing strongly to beat the Group of Death’s whipping boys Hungary – who in fairness did give a great account of themselves – 3-0 in Budapest.
And, so long as the Portuguese remain aware of the flying knee of Robin Gosens (if only we had a market for Mortal Kombat moves) they can come away with the win here.

Over 1.5 Goals
If there’s one thing Portugal love it’s scoring goals and Germany aren’t half shabby at it either. Portugal have scored 25 in their last 12 games. Germany boast 23 from their last twelve, but that includes a 7-1 demolition job of Latvia. Expect goals from this one.
Cristiano Ronaldo to score anytime
What more can be said about this man? He’s incredible, scores a brace in the space of five minutes and then single-handedly sees out on a mission to destroy Coca Cola’s share price. Ronaldo has 11 appearances and 14 goals for Portugal in 2021. The real question is who’s going to impress us more with their finishing: Hummels or Ronaldo? A feast for the eyes is upon us, get comfortable.
Serge Gnabry 1 or more shots on target
As good as Ruben Dias is, Serge Gnabry can take advantage of the ageing Pepe alongside him and the good-but-not-quite-Joao-Cancelo-levels-of-good Nelson Semedo and getting at least one shot on target.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Bruno Fernandes assist
He had a relatively quiet game by his standards against Hungary, and we all know Bruno Fernandes was secretly heartbroken not to be allowed take the penalty (which Ronaldo scored, naturally). But I’m expecting to see Fernandes bounce back in a major way – he’s recorded 18 assists this season and expect to see another in this game.
Pepe yellow card
Despite a wealth of experience playing the beautiful game, Pepe is a headbanger, loves a good hard tackle and could struggle to deal with the pace of Gnabry. He picked up eight cards this season for Porto and could easily get another in this game.
