Dulux dog blames Joe Hart’s social media team for Spurs tweets

There's no glossing over it

An Old English Sheepdog who serves as the brand mascot for Dulux paint has apologised to Spurs fans saying that a member of Joe Hart’s social media had mistakenly published tweets which appeared to mock the North London club.

The dog, named Thierry by his football-mad owners, was forced to release a statement after appearing to respond to other users’ tweets which ridiculed Tottenham’s lack of recent silverware and defensive frailties.

In what might turn out to be yet another shaggy dog story, the long-serving mascot refused to accept responsibility and instead accused Spurs ‘keeper Hart’s social media team of sending the offending tweets.

‘Morning guys, I feel like I need to come on and make an apology on behalf of Joe Hart’s social media team’, said the dog.

‘It has just been brought to my attention, I’ve literally just got back from the dog groomers, that someone who works for Joe thought it’d be funny to take the piss out of Tottenham’s empty trophy cabinet and how it might be an ideal storage space for tins of Dulux paint.

‘It was also insinuated that I might be a better central back than any of Tottenham’s current defenders – which is absolute nonsense, as everyone knows I’m more of a midfield terrier!

‘This isn’t an attempt to whitewash or gloss over the fact a lot of Spurs fans will be very upset by what’s happened today. But it’s the truth’.

Shortly after the release of the dog’s statement, Joe Hart was summonsed to Jose Mourinho’s office.

Club sources told Paddy Power News there was a 20-minute heated exchange between the pair behind closed doors, after which Hart emerged with a large paint brush lodged up his rectum.

The latest setback will come as a huge blow to Hart who had only recently returned to training after several months out with a career-threatening dose of dandruff.
